We visit the area frequently usually to walk along the old railway trackbed. We visited the mill site yesterday for the first time in several months. It was good to see that restoration work is finally going ahead. We have always thought that the old mill should be preserved and restored. Most old mills are sold off privately and people can then only see them from a distance so we are pleased to see that for once there will be more opportunity for the general public to see it. However, it looks like the old building next to the river, on the opposite side of the road have become a private dwelling. It would have been better if that building had become a shop/chandlery/cafe. The site needs more parking as it is often difficult to find anywhere to park.
